TCN Together

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND CHARITY INITIATIVES.

TCN together is our initiative to ensure we make a positive impact on the ground and across all of our projects. We do this because we care. We care about the environment and we care about our communities. The ultimate sustainability initiative for us is recycling unloved buildings and transforming them into now usable spaces. TCN together supports our mission “to create places which enable business growth and positive change” and our core values “teamwork, respect, courage, challenge and passion”.

We also ensure we take care of the little things too, from the day-to-day recycling and energy saving, through to the upcycling of used office furniture across the portfolio. We’re committed to supporting local charities across the UK and also work with local authorities to help them achieve their targets of being carbon neutral by 2030.

NEW BEGINNINGS | READING

Dog House Reading has chosen a local homeless charity to donate all earnings from its onsite honesty bar to. New Beginnings Reading have transformed the Queens Arms pub in Great Knollys Street, which is now used as an all-Night Café, a night shelter. It’s also a community fridge for distributing free food for those in need and the After School Café offering meals, clothing and support for parents and children.

LET’S FEED BRUM | BIRMINGHAM

Through lockdown of 2020, Assay Studios donated office space to “Let’s Feed Brum”, Birmingham’s local charity that provides food, drink and essential supplies and friendship to the homeless community in the city. Unit B.05 at Assay was used as an area for 30 volunteers to make, sort and distribute daily food deliveries. Our Assay Studios members helped to collect clothing and sleeping bag donations for the homeless.

WASTE MATCH | BRIDGWATER

NEST@mallard is one of our most recent regeneration projects to date and ensuring our new members have the tools they need to work productively, NEST@Mallard worked with Waste Match to source upcycled or recycled office furniture, as opposed to buying new. This saved an estimated 24 cubic tons of Carbon from being released into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to 12 return flights from London to New York!

CITY TO SEA | BRISTOL

TCN UK engaged City to Sea to carry out a waste and sustainability audit across the portfolio to maximise our environmental initiatives and ensure that we are keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum. The report was thorough and our goals were set. We sprung into action. We switched suppliers to more eco-friendly and sustainable ones, we replaced plastic bottles for compostable ones, we installed movement sensors (PiRS) for a more energy-efficient lighting solution, and held sustainability workshops for the team just to start! Bins and recycling areas were improved and the team were educated on the use of more eco-friendly processes.

City to Sea is an organisation on a mission to stop plastic pollution. They run people-powered, community–serving campaigns that help individuals and businesses to change the world whilst having some fun on the way. We learned a lot from these guys and what a great experience it was!

“This year TCN UK donated armfuls of presents for disadvantaged children and young people in Reading for Christmas. Their team and member initiatives are heart warming and we couldn’t thank you enough.”
